Does Energy Healing Work for Everyone: We Ask 3 Trusted Energy Healers
The not-too-long-ago mystery of energy work and energy healing has slowly become recognized, by both scientific studies and miraculous real-life stories. Not only do many seek energy healing to help reduce stress and physical pain, they also seek it for better mental clarity and spiritual growth. Though there is still much skepticism and confusion about the nature of energy work and its legitimacy, wondering if it’s just a new age trend or simply woo-woo.
Is seeing an energy practitioner really so different from seeing a doctor, psychologist, or chiropractor? We ask 3 energy healers who are not only experienced within their modalities but also well trained in Western healing mindsets. They each share their personal journey in energy healing and some valuable insights.
Tasha Triana is a Registered Nurse turned Life and Purpose Coach and Hypnotherapist. She is also a certified yoga and meditation teacher, reiki master, and holds a Master’s Degree in Psychology.
Early on in her almost decade of working in the hospital setting, Tasha experienced severe burnout. While this was an extremely challenging time in her life, it was also an enlightening one, as it helped her truly understand the importance and necessity of daily self-care practices and implementing them in her own life. Her time working in the hospital also enabled her to uncover her true passion for mind, body, and spirit healing and well-being.
As Tasha witnessed the power of mindset and belief systems within her patients in the hospital, she was inspired to dive deeper into the power of the mind-body-spirit connection and the power of the subconscious mind. By following her passions, curiosity, and purpose, she was led on her own healing and transformational journey and was ultimately called to step away from the hospital setting to serve and impact the world in a more aligned way.
Tasha founded The Nurtured Nurse in 2018 and is on a mission to teach and empower others to prioritize themselves, build self-awareness, and let go of limiting beliefs so that they can live their most authentic and aligned lives.
We asked Tasha to share her story and some of her insights on energy healing:
Q:
How does your previous training as an RN help you as an energy healer?
A:
I love having training in both Western medicine as well as some Eastern or integrative practices and modalites. I think they are really two sides of the same coin and it’s great being able to bridge the gap between the two because we need both sets of thinking. For example, if you broke your bone I would send you to the hospital or urgent care first before recommending energy healing. However, in this case, energy healing could be complementary to your healing process. It would help calm the body, regulate the nervous system, and speed up the recovery process.
Q:
How does energy healing work?
A:
Basically, we are all made of energy and are all energetic beings. Through the practice of Reiki, which is what I studied, the practitioner becomes a conduit for universal energy or source energy, whichever word you prefer to use. The practitioner is able to help clear or move energy that might be stuck or misaligned in a person’s body.
It is a similar concept to acupuncture that opens up pathways to allow chi or life force energy to move through the body. Acupuncture uses needles whereas in energy healing, the practitioner uses their hands to lightly hover over a person’s body. Some practitioners use light touch, depending on the practitioner and the comfort level of the client.
As human beings, we tend to store energy in our body, from past emotional events to energy we’ve absorbed from others we are in contact with. Some of the energy that is stored in our body no longer serves us so energy healing is a way to help move them out of the body so our energy can maintain its flow. I trust each individual’s body to tell me where it needs healing the most and just allow Reiki energy to go where it needs to go.
Q:
When is a good time for someone to try energy healing?
A:
A good time for someone to try energy healing is when they feel they or their body is experiencing disharmony, is out of balance, or if there is a chronic illness that’s been there for a long time and Western medicine hasn’t helped. This is when energy healing can help regulate and restore balance to the body’s own healing process. Or, very simply, if someone is just curious about energy healing and what it can unveil. As I have mentioned, we are all intuitive beings and if somebody is curious, that is just their intuition guiding them to explore energy healing. In addition to restoring energetic harmony, energy healing can also help with transforming the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind stores beliefs, emotion, feelings (and so much more) that we are not aware of. Energy healing can help bring some of those things to the surface to be examined.

Trauma and victim consciousness are some of the things that can create interference in our energy field, and those things can form way back in our lives. Our subconscious is formed from when we were in our mother’s womb up until about age 7. — Natasha Davidson
Natasha Davidson is a corporate business analyst turned energy healer, specializing in BioEnergetics Synchronization Technique (B.E.S.T.). She graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where she learned innovative coaching methods, practical lifestyle management techniques, and over 100 dietary theories – Ayurveda, gluten-free, Paleo, raw, vegan, macrobiotics, and everything in between.
Natasha studied BioEnergetics, Quantum Science, and energy medicine with Dr. Sue Morter of the Morter Institute on how to embody high-frequency energy patterns to activate the full human potential. She has learned the relationship between the electromagnetic energy system and the central nervous system and how to release subconscious interference. Natasha facilitates workshops and continues to teach Dr. Sue’s tools and practices of self-healing, meditation and inner reflection through integrative breathwork.

Q:
What was your journey in becoming an energy healer?
A:
I started out in the financial corporate world very much operating from my mind (and not from my heart). I followed a path I thought was the right way to approach life — I had a good job, got married and had kids, but I was feeling unfulfilled. My job became very demanding and required me to travel a lot, so I was starting to feel burnt out and still unfulfilled with what I was doing. I started seeing a therapist, and she encouraged me to see my savings as an “opportunity fund” instead of an “emergency fund” and use it to explore a new career for myself. So I left my full-time job and for the first time in my life did not have a plan as to what to do next.
It was around that time my mom was having health issues and I wanted to help her. I decided to become a health coach and learn about the perfect diet. Soon I discovered that there is no perfect diet. What works for one person doesn’t necessarily work for another, that it’s more about intuitive eating. I then came across a book called Radical Remission that studied spontaneous remissions of cancer patients and what they all have in common. I found out there were 9 key factors, among which 7 of them were more about emotional health, spiritual health, having community, and a sense of purpose in life, etc. That’s when I learned that health isn’t just about diet and exercise.
Coincidentally, I received a random email right around that time that said “Get paid to teach energy medicine” and it intrigued me. So I reached out, went through an application process and everything just aligned and flowed after that. That’s when Dr. Sue Morter became my teacher and I went through a mind-blowing training with her on The Energy Codes, which is what I teach now. She answered everything I knew deep in my heart to be true but just was never exposed to the knowledge. She taught us the concept of embodiment and basically how to get back in our body. So many people are striving for enlightenment but she taught us that we are already light. It’s really about bringing more of us into our body so we can maximize our human experience. So the work I do now is really about building circuitry, not just neurocircuitry but electromagnetic circuitry as well to awaken or perceive more of who we are.
Q:
What are some of the things that can cause blockage in our energy field and how does B.E.S.T. help remove those blockages?
A:
Trauma and victim consciousness are some of the things that can create interference in our energy field, and those things can form way back in our lives. Our subconscious is formed from when we were in our mother’s womb up until about age 7. For example, interference could come from when you were little and you were super excited to draw a picture for your mom. So you draw your picture with delight, feeling excited to give your mom a gift of love and she comes into the room and sees that you drew all over the wall, then she yells at you. You may grow up associating that if I express myself with joy and delight I might get into trouble. So you have that stored memory pattern, and that interference comes in every time you begin to feel delight.
A lot of those memories we don’t even remember or are aware of. They just live in our subconscious. The work that I do (B.E.S.T.) essentially brings them forward into our consciousness so I can remove that interference and balance the flow of energy. I do that by asking your body directly what’s going on in the energy field, through muscle testing. Your body records a history of every experience and it doesn’t lie, like your mind sometimes can. B.E.S.T. focuses on 5 keys (or questions) for the body during a treatment session: an emotion, a number, breathing pattern, eye position, and contact point, to reconnect or reprogram neural pathways.
Q:
Why does energy healing work for some but not others?
A:
Energy healing is specific to the individual and can have very different results for everyone. The relationship between you and your energy practitioner is very important because the level of comfort and trust makes a big difference. In general, the more open and receptive you are to the energy work you are about to receive, the more of a difference you might feel. Energy work is sensitive and often works in the subconscious so if you are resistant to the idea of energy healing it can interfere with receiving treatment. Think of it like a garden hose: If there is a kink in the hose (resistance), then the water can’t flow through (energy flow). It is important to open communication pathways between the brain and body to allow the innate healing intelligence of the body to flow. If you are new to energy healing, the best way to approach it is to talk with a well trained and experienced energy healer first and address any questions or concerns you might have, so you can relax and be open to receiving treatment.
Natasha offers one-on-one treatment sessions as well as facilitates workshops teaching The Energy Codes to help people self-heal. You can learn more about Natasha and her work through her website. You can also connect with Natasha on Instagram.
I think maybe part of the best practices for an energy healer is to be really clear about what the modalities are and how they can support you, and just having that transparency. I am also careful not to overpromise anything, because energy healing can impact each person very differently, depending on their sensitivity and receptivity, what they’re each wanting and struggling with. — Whitney Larson

We asked Whitney to share her story and some of her insights on energy healing:
Q:
When is a good time for someone to pursue energy healing?
A:
Good question. Two things come to mind for me, one of them is when they have had an issue for a long time and have already tried many different things and they haven’t worked. If they’ve tried seeing doctors, they’ve tried therapy and coaching, or any number of modalities but they still find themselves struggling with the same issue. So that’s a great time to try a different angle to their issue. Another time to seek energy healing is when you want your life to be even better. If you feel good, you have a good family and a good job, but you still want to evolve and want to progress your life to an even greater height. That is another time when energy healing can really support you and enhance what you are already doing.
Q:
Is there a code or rules of best practices as an energy healer?
A:
Well I will speak to my own best practices because I don’t know about what other energy healers do. Whenever I see a new client, I always ask myself how I can serve them the best. I start my consultation to get a clear idea of where they are at, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Then I have a conversation with them about what I can do for them, that these are the things I can do that addresses what they need. I can do the same session for two separate people, and the experience during the session as well as the results in how it changes their lives can be entirely different. I like to make that very clear to people too.
For example, I saw one man who was struggling with depression and low mood. I did a Life Activation session for him and he had felt a weight lifted off during the session and reported afterwards that he woke up the next morning without feeling depressed. Versus a young woman I treated with the same session, she felt intensity during the session and had to sit down, and part of the session was done standing up. She was young and physically fit who would otherwise have no issue standing for a period of time, but the energy coming in was very strong and we had to take a break. Someone else I had worked with felt a sense of peace right during our session. She was looking out the window and suddenly felt the livelihood from the outside world supporting her. She became introspective and told me she doesn’t know what happened but she felt she needed to go sit by herself and meditate now.
Q:
How does energy healing help connect you to a higher purpose or your life purpose?
A:
Well the work that I do helps you connect to your soul. I think a lot of people, especially in the Western Culture, are running around day to day doing a million things. It’s a lot about checking off that to-do list. When you come in for a Life Activation session, for example, you are connecting to your light and divine blueprint of your eternal self. That is what Life Activation helps to do, to turn on a new potential that has been hidden, latent, or stagnant. It helps to catalyze it, to grow into physical form.
We can become disconnected from our eternal self in a lot of ways. Trauma is one of the ways, and it can be big or small traumas, whether they are within our awareness or in our subconscious. The immediate thought that came to mind is our birth trauma that we all kind of have. Within these first few breaths we are on this earth, we experience this incredible fear that gets embedded in our system. If you don’t get proper nurturing from your caregivers then that lives in you. And fear is a huge thing that disconnects us from our purpose and holds us back. The other thing is our negative ego. So any kind of self-doubt or negative self-talk, masking us to hide from what’s real in our heart and our vulnerabilities. That is a big barrier as well for realizing our purpose. If you don’t feel fulfilled then you have probably lost track a little bit, and energy healing can help you come back and align you to it.
